Hello, and thanks for taking the time to stop by and check out the Cleft cartoons website. The cartoons on this site are free to download for your personal use (print them off to stick on your fridge, office wall or, God forbid, your toilet door), but if you'd like to use them on your own website, publish them, or use them for any other purpose, then please contact me here. All cartoons are copyright protected.

I live in Perth, Western Australia, and work in the support services area of a large non-profit organisation. Born in South Australia, where I joined the family business as a plumbing apprentice after leaving school, my wife and I moved to WA some years later settling in a remote North West mining town, where we lived for ten years before moving to Perth. A variety of jobs followed, from plumber to network administrator to North West Manager of a division of a major international company.

Drawing cartoons (or anything else, for that matter) was as far from my mind during this time as becoming a deep sea diver, until the early part of 1999 when the news of Gary Larson's retirement (I know, I know - he retired ealier than that) triggered the desire to put some ideas down on paper. The paper (I can't draw on paper to save myself) very quickly became a computer screen and the pencil turned into Paint Shop Pro, so all of the images you see are digital creations.

Cleft cartoons are a little different to your average single panel toon (as if I need to tell you!) in the subjects covered and the way the subjects are treated. The biggest single influence in my cartooning style and ideas is my total lack of any training in cartooning and art - along with a fractured sense of humour, which is why the toon series has been named 'Cleft'.
